How we evaluate
Pieces on The Gem Tray are chosen by reading each listing. For each Amazon listing we read the product details (metal, stone, size, weight), check that they match the title, and list only pieces that are in stock. A daily stock check hides anything Amazon lists as unavailable. Grades on a listing (D colour, VVS1, GRA) are the seller's claims. We are not gemologists and do not certify stones.
What we do not do
- We do not repeat a seller's grade as a fact. D colour on a moissanite listing is written as "the seller states D colour".
- Prices are approximate ("about $25") and come from Amazon's own product data on the date and time printed with them; when we have no price from that day, the card says "See price on Amazon". Prices change, so every link goes to the live listing.
- We do not invent wear impressions. If a note is missing, we have not checked it yet.
- We do not give investment advice. Lab stones are for wearing.
About the pictures
Product cards show the listing's own photo, which comes from Amazon through its Creators API, so what you see is what the seller shows. A few cards show our own photographs. Generic drawings, like the one above, are labelled "Illustration (AI render)"; they are not a picture of any listing.
